City professionals are increasingly confident of their job security according to recent figures from GRS’s sentiment index
Confidence rises as predictions of slowing negative growth emerge
In the market’s most up-to-date survey of job confidence, of 5,370 professionals (specialising in the disciplines of risk management, compliance, audit, insurance, tax, and legal) were polled by GRS on whether they felt they would be more secure in their jobs within the next 3 months. Through July and August, the number of people feeling their security would improve increased by 2 percentage points – on top of a 2 percentage point increase in May and June.
GRS has seen the City’s job market slowly improving for a number of months – despite the continued rise of unemployment throughout the rest of the country. Kinsey Allen Consulting, (with whom GRS has recently merged), is seeing stronger levels of activity across many front office roles which is driving the general sense of security across back-office functions – most noticeably in the legal (pensions, employment, banking litigation) and risk management (operational and enterprise-wide risk) spheres.
Ken Brotherston, CEO of GRS Group and Kinsey Allen Consulting added: “Confidence is spreading through the City as the Square Mile continues on its steady path to recovery. There’s been a lot of talk about ‘green shoots’ in the economy, but the confidence monitor is one of the few sources able to assess and help forecast market conditions, and show us that City workers feel the worst is behind us.”
